About the client

The client is a financial services organization specializing in title insurance protection and professional settlement services. Operating within the Mortgage and Real Estate sectors, the company plays a critical role in facilitating the smooth closing of property transactions for buyers, sellers, lenders, and real estate professionals.

Client challenges

As transaction volumes grew and expectations for speed and accuracy increased, the organization’s aging infrastructure and manual processes created operational bottlenecks, rising costs, and scalability challenges. To improve agility and modernize operations, a strategic cloud migration initiative was undertaken.

They faced challenges with:

  1. High Infrastructure Costs: Legacy on-premises systems required significant capital investment in hardware and ongoing maintenance, driving up infrastructure expenditure without a corresponding improvement in performance.
  2. Dedicated Team and Space Overhead: Running and maintaining physical servers demanded dedicated personnel and physical space, adding avoidable operational overhead.
  3. Increased Hardware and Software Expenses: Escalating costs for hardware refreshes and software licensing placed financial strain on the organization’s technology budget.
  4. Lengthy Request Processing Times: Complex internal workflows and manual dependencies resulted in prolonged processing times, slowing down title and settlement operations.
  5. Multiple Internal Dependencies Delaying Operations: Interdependencies between teams and systems created cascading delays, reducing the overall responsiveness of the organization’s service delivery.

Solution

A comprehensive cloud migration and system modernization program was executed, transforming the client’s on-premises architecture into a scalable, cloud-native platform built on Microsoft Azure:

Legacy System Migration to Microsoft Azure

All legacy on-premises systems were migrated to Microsoft Azure, significantly reducing infrastructure costs and unlocking the scalability and resilience of a modern cloud environment. This migration eliminated the need for physical server maintenance and freed the organization from capital-intensive hardware cycles.

Re-platforming Key Functions as Azure Web Jobs

Critical background processes and system functions were re-platformed as Azure Web Jobs, improving system performance, enhancing processing flexibility, and enabling faster execution of complex workflows without manual intervention.

Integrated OCR Processing for Document Recognition

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) processing was integrated to automate document recognition and classification — a previously manual and time-consuming step in the title insurance workflow. This automation accelerated document handling and improved accuracy across the processing pipeline.

Search Automation System (SPS) for Parallel Document Search

A purpose-built Search Automation System (SPS) was developed to enable faster, parallel-based document search capabilities. This replaced sequential manual search workflows, dramatically reducing the time required to locate and process title-related documentation.

Benefits

The cloud migration and system modernization delivered measurable improvements across speed, cost, compliance, and customer experience:

  1. Accelerated Title Processing and Settlement Turnaround: Automated workflows and cloud-based processing significantly reduced the time required to complete title insurance and settlement transactions.
  2. Reduced Operational Overhead Through Cloud Scalability: Eliminating physical infrastructure reduced operational overhead and allowed resources to be reallocated toward higher-value activities.
  3. Enhanced Compliance and Audit Readiness: Automated workflows provided structured audit trails and improved the organization’s ability to meet regulatory compliance requirements efficiently.
  4. Improved Customer Experience: Faster and more accurate service delivery translated directly into a better experience for clients navigating mortgage and real estate transactions.
