Siloed fuel, merchandise, food service, car wash and loyalty data?

When every revenue stream operates on separate systems, conflicting reports and inconsistent decisions become inevitable. Microsoft Fabric’s unified Lakehouse on OneLake brings store, product, site, and customer data into one governed platform with a single source of truth.

Are slow BI refresh cycles forcing teams back to spreadsheets for daily decisions?

When fuel prices shift every few minutes and promotions change throughout the day, delayed reporting impacts speed and margin. Fabric’s real-time dashboards give pricing teams, store managers, and category leaders continuous access to live operational data.

Are your AI initiatives struggling because the data foundation is not enterprise ready?

From demand forecasting and loyalty personalization to refinery maintenance and fuel optimization, AI use cases depend on trusted data. Fabric’s Medallion Lakehouse provides the governed, scalable foundation needed to move AI initiatives into production faster.

Driving Intelligent Retail, Convenience Chains, and Energy Operations with Fabric

IDC's MarketScape for POS Software in Retail Fuel & Convenience study 2025 identifies declining loyalty and rising customer expectations as key drivers of next-generation data integration.

Across retail, convenience chains, and oil and gas, organizations contend with fragmented data across multi-site operations, revenue streams, pricing models, and supplier ecosystems, often siloed across ERP, POS, fuel management, and reporting systems. Without a unified platform, visibility and decision-making suffer.

As a Microsoft Fabric Featured Partner with deep expertise in retail and fuel practice experience, our implementations in this sector share methods, migration patterns, and AI use cases that make our expertise directly applicable.

Our Key Microsoft Fabric Services

Power BI to Fabric Migration

The Challenge

Convenience chains, fuel, and energy retailers running PDI, Excentus, PriceAdvantage, ERP, POS, and loyalty systems face reporting inconsistencies, data contention, and governance gaps when Power BI connects directly to fragmented data sources.

Our Solution with Fabric

Our migration service moves enterprise data into a governed Medallion Lakehouse architecture, enabling near real-time reporting and reducing source-system load, Existing reports are repointed rather than rebuilt. The result is a unified foundation ready for AI and advanced analytics: operational reporting, fuel and merchandise forecasting, loyalty analytics, dynamic pricing, Copilot in Power BI, and predictive intelligence.

Azure Synapse to Fabric Migration

The Challenge

For petroleum operators and large retail chains with Synapse in place, data is centralized yet business units such as fuel supply, merchandising, and procurement still submit IT tickets for every dataset they need. Over time, teams build their own copies, creating conflicting versions of the same fuel margin or promotional figure. Governance breaks down, and trust in data evaporates.

Our Solution with Fabric

Our migration reframes the engagement around access, rather than storage. Fabric's zero-copy architecture lets business units reach enterprise data through governed shortcuts without duplicating it. Petroleum operators get separate domains for refining, light oils, lubes, and supply and trading. Convenience chains get domains for merchandising, fuel, car wash, HR, and finance, each with self-service within guardrails and ML experimentation natively connected to trusted enterprise data.

AI Agents and Copilots

The Challenge

For retail and petroleum operators, AI initiatives stall not from lack of ambition but lack of foundation. Models trained on duplicated, ungoverned data produce unreliable outputs. Copilot tools without a trusted data layer return answers that no one acts on. Without a unified, governed data platform, AI stays on the roadmap.

Our Solution with Fabric

A governed Fabric foundation makes production AI concrete. For convenience and fuel retailers, that means ML models for merchandise demand, fuel forecasting, promotional performance, and customer loyalty. For petroleum and energy operators, that means refinery demand forecasting, predictive maintenance, and supply and trading analytics. Across both, Copilot delivers insights and accepts queries in plain English, putting enterprise data within reach without SQL or IT involvement.

Our Perspectives

FAQs

Yes. Fabric’s Dataflow Gen2 and Data Factory support API-based and file-based ingestion from operational platforms used across fuel retail and convenience chains, including PDI Enterprise and PDI FP, Excentus loyalty data, OPIS competitor pricing feeds, PriceAdvantage, and back-office systems like Fiserv, COMDATA, UKG, and ConnectWise.

As part of our LevelShift Microsoft Fabric services for retail, we build scalable data solutions that unify operational, loyalty, pricing, and financial data into a governed enterprise data foundation, with reusable integration patterns proven in production.

No. Our approach is data-layer first: existing Power BI reports repoint to the new Fabric Lakehouse source instead of being rebuilt from scratch. Most reports work with little to no modification. What changes is the underlying Medallion architecture, which reduces contention, governs access, and keeps datasets consistent across departments.
Fabric’s zero-copy architecture solves this by using Shortcuts to provide each domain governed read access to enterprise data without duplication. IT sets access policy once, and business units self-serve within guardrails—no repeated data movement, no version sprawl, and fewer provisioning tickets.
It depends on your workloads and architecture, and our 3R Assessment is designed to determine that for your environment. In many cases, Fabric is a migration path, but we validate this upfront. Where Synapse remains effective for specific workloads, we can position Fabric as the access and analytics layer above Synapse data using Synapse Link or direct shortcuts, then complete migration at your pace.

We have delivered AI Agents across both sectors.

For convenience and fuel retailers, common use cases include promotional performance analytics, merchandise demand forecasting, customer churn prediction, fuel demand forecasting with competitor pricing integration, and operational reporting automation.

For petroleum and energy operators, use cases include refinery modelling and planning, API quality prediction and blending, emissions monitoring and ESG reporting, and predictive asset management.

Most engagements follow three phases. Phase 1 (Data Platform Modernization, typically 8–12 weeks) includes Fabric setup, data migration, Power BI or Synapse migration, Medallion architecture, and initial dashboards. Phase 2 (Digital Transformation, 8–12 weeks) adds secondary source integration and self-service analytics. Phase 3 (AI Initiatives, ongoing) deploys ML models, Copilot, and AI agents on the governed foundation. Phases can also be scoped independently.
Fabric provides unified access policy, lineage tracking, and role-based access controls at workspace and dataset levels to support governance and audit requirements common in fuel retail and petroleum operations. For heightened compliance needs, we implement Microsoft Purview alongside Fabric for enterprise-grade data cataloging, sensitivity labeling, and policy enforcement across the full data estate.
